History of Kim’s Chocolates:
  • 17 November 1987, Kim’s Chocolates was founded in Aarschot, Belgium;
  • Aug. 1988: Started production with 2 lines – 1,500 m² / 15,000 sq.ft.;
  • 1992: Factory grows to 2,500 m² / 25,000 sq.ft.;
  • 1993: The first chocolate manufacturer anywhere in the world to be ISO 9002 certified;
  • 1995: Factory enlarges to 6,500 m² / 65,000 sq.ft. and installation of a new mouldingline for bars & tablets;
  • 2003: Windel GmbH becomes major shareholder;
  • 2006: Installation of a new enrobing line for chocolates;
  • Aug. 2007: Started building a new plant of 11,556 m² / 120,000 sq.ft. in Tienen (“Sugar Town”), located in the centre of Belgium;
  • Feb. 2008: Installation of a new coating line;
  • Apr.- May 2008: Production moves to the new factory in Tienen;
  • Jun. 2008: The full administration & operation teams move to new site in Tienen;
  • Nov. 2008: Awarded “Laureate-The most energy-conscious SME 2008 in Flanders”;
  • Jan. 2009: Solar energy production begins;
  • May 2010: Kim's Chocolates starts it's "Cocoa for Schools" project in Tanzania;
  • Oct. 2011: Awarded “best company in export” by Trends Business Tour 2011;
  • May 2015: 3 new Cachet gift boxes awarded “Superior Taste Award 2015” by iTQi.
  • Jan. 2018: Founder of Kim's Chocolates Fons Maex receives the prize of the entrepreneur of the year for the town Tienen.
